The Lünen biomass power plant (BMK) in the Lippholthausen district of Lüner is operated by Steag New Energies and Remondis .

The biomass power plant, which was completed in 2006, uses a steam turbine to generate 20 megawatts of electricity, which is fed into the public grid on the basis of the law for the priority of renewable energies . The turbine is supplied by a water tube boiler from Standardkessel with a steam output of 80 t / h. The power plant recycles 135,000 tons of waste wood per year .

The power plant is supplied with waste wood from the nearby Lippewerk waste center operated by Remondis AG. Ancillary systems at the nearby STEAG Lünen power plant are also used.

The power plant is connected to the distribution network of Stadtwerke Lünen at the 10 kV medium voltage level. The water from the Lippe is used to cool the power station .
