Birgit Platzer (born October 14, 1992 in Nussbach , Upper Austria ) is a former Austrian luge athlete .

Platzer started toboggan in 2006. In 2007 she was Austrian champion, although she was still a junior. A year later she took fourth place. She finished 14th in the Junior World Championships in Lake Placid .

At the beginning of the 2008/09 season , Platzer started in the Luge World Cup for the first time and finished 30th in Igls in the World Cup overall to 19th place and reached 16th place at the Luge World Championships in Altenberg.

In the 2013/14 season she achieved 10th place in the individual competition in Igls and 9th place in the team relay in Altenberg . She finished the World Cup in 20th place that season.

Platzer represented Austria at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and was 23rd in the women's individual competition.

She started the 2016/17 season with a 4th place in the individual and a 2nd place in the sprint in Winterberg, Germany . Further highlights of Platzer were the 5th place in the Olympic test in the Alpensia Sliding Center in Pyeongchang as well as the 9th place in the overall World Cup. She ended her active career on August 6, 2019.
