Rederiaktiebolaget Eckerö is a Finnish shipping company based in Åland .
The company is divided into the following divisions:
- Eckerö Linjen Ab based in Mariehamn : Eckerö (Åland / Finland) - Grisslehamn ( Sweden ), passenger traffic. The travel agency brands Ålandsresor and Ålandsresor Resebyrå , which belong to the group, also belong to the Eckerö Linjen division . The travel agencies sell the Group's own ship and bus trips on the one hand, but also third-party products such as flight bookings, hotel stays, package tours, and more.
- Eckerö Line Ab Oy based in Mariehamn: Helsinki (Finland) - Tallinn ( Estonia ). Passenger and cargo transportation. This route is especially designed for day tourists who drive from Helsinki to Tallinn in the morning, have 6.5 hours there for sightseeing or shopping and then return to Finland in the evening. In thismarket, which has been growing rapidlysince Estonia joined the European Union in May 2004 , Eckerö Line is in direct competition with Nordic Jet Line , Silja Line , Tallink and Viking Line .
- Birka Cruises AB based in Stockholm : Stockholm (Sweden) - Mariehamn (Åland / Finland), passenger traffic; by 2020
- Eckerö Shipping Ab Ltd , based in Mariehamn, operates several Ro-Ro ships on routes between Finland / Sweden and mainland Europe on the basis of long-term charter for various companies in the Finnish and Swedish export industries.
- Williams Buss Ab , based in Mariehamn, is a bus company that operates bus routes 1, 5 and 6 in Åland on the one hand, and is also active in the bus travel business with a fleet of coaches on the other.

- Finbo Cargo ( Helsinki ↔ Tallinn ): Built in 2000 (Astilleros Españoles, Sevilla ). Length 179.95 m, width 25.24 m. Speed 22.5 knots. Capacity 366 passengers. 120 cars.

- Birka Stockholm ( Stockholm ↔ Mariehamn ): Built 2004 ( Aker Finnyards , Rauma ). Length 177 m, width 28 m. Speed 21 knots. Capacity 1800 passengers in 715 cabins.

Dissolution of Birka Cargo AB
In 2013 the Birka Cargo AB Ltd. dissolved and 5 of the 7 ships sold to other operators. The Birka Shipper and the Birka Exporter have been operating under the names Shipper and Exporter for Eckerö since then , but now directly under the Eckerö flag. The Birka Trader and the Birka Carrier were sold to long-term charterer Finnlines and from then on operated under the names Finnmaster and Finncarrier . The latter has meanwhile been handed over to Color Line and now operates as a color carrier as a freight ferry on the Kiel-Oslo route. The Birka Express was handed over to Seatrans A / S from Norway and operates there under the name SC Connector . The Birka Transporter drives after several years of use in Spain once again as a transporter for Eckerö and the Baltic Excellent as Excellent for Visentini Giovanni Transporti in Italy.
