Birkackerhöfe is a district of the city of Lauingen in the Swabian district of Dillingen on the Danube . The hamlet is one and a half kilometers southeast of the road between Lauingen and Wittislingen .

history

The place is near the desert "Birkach", which was first mentioned in 1156. Birkach was probably an extension of Wittislingen . The Kaisheim monastery came into the possession of the entire village in the High Middle Ages and built a grangie (monastery courtyard) here. After 1307 the place was abandoned and farmers from the surrounding villages took over the cultivation of the fields.

Birkackerhöfe takes up the name of the desert again. A courtyard was only built here in 1845, and more followed between 1865 and 1883.

Religions

The Catholic Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was built in 1952. In its place was a previous building from 1887.
