Birra Moretti was an Italian beer brewery that was founded in the northern Italian city of Udine . Since 1996 the company has been part of the internationally positioned Dutch group of companies, the Heineken Brewery.
history
Birra Moretti was founded in 1859 by Luigi Moretti as "Fabbrica di birra e ghiaccio" (beer and ice cream factory). The brewery was located on today's Via Luigi Moretti. In 1860 the first bottle of the Moretti "flagship" Birra Moretti came on the market. The brewery was relocated from Udine to San Giorgio di Nogaro . In 1996, Birra Moretti was bought by Heineken and the brewery was given up. The brewery is now run by Birra Castello. Production was continued under the old brand name in the other Italian Heineken breweries . Today Birra Moretti is exported to more than 40 countries.
