Birte Toepfer
Birte Imme Toepfer , b. Oldendorff , (born April 21, 1945 in Lübeck ; † November 11, 2010 in Hamburg ) was a German patron and chairwoman of the foundation board.
The daughter of the Lübeck shipowner Egon Oldendorff had been married to Heinrich Alfred Toepfer (1930–2016), the youngest son of the Hamburg entrepreneur and founder Alfred Toepfer , since 1967 . From this marriage there were three children.
Birte Toepfer studied pedagogy and educational science in Würzburg , Munich and Hamburg. Since 1980 she has been volunteering in various offices in Hamburg: from 1990 to 2010 member of the board of the Carl Toepfer Foundation, from 1997 to 2005 chairwoman of the Alfred Toepfer Foundation FVS , from 2005 to 2007 deputy chairwoman and from 2007 to 2010 chairwoman of the Board member of the Alfred Toepfer Foundation FVS and from 1997 to 2005 member of the Board of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation . Since 2001 she has been a board member of the Friends of the Kunsthalle in Hamburg. She has also been a member of the Federal Association of German Foundations since 1993 and was vice-president of the Übersee-Club .
She died in Hamburg by suicide.
