Bismuth subbromide is a chemical compound from the bromide group . In addition to this, two other bismuth bromides are known: bismuth (I) bromide and bismuth (III) bromide .

Extraction and presentation

Bismuth subbromide can be obtained by reacting bismuth with bismuth (III) bromide at 272 ° C. The compound was first synthesized in 1978 by Heike von Benda.

properties

Bismuth subbromide is a black solid with needle-shaped crystals. It has an orthorhombic crystal structure with the space group Pnnm (space group no. 58) . Template: room group / 58
