Diocese of Alais

The Diocese of Alais ( lat. : Dioecesis Alesiensis ) was in southern France located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church based in Ales (writing during the period of existence of the diocese: Alais ).

history

The diocese Alais was on May 17, 1694 by Pope Innocent XII. erected with the papal bull Animarum zelus from cession of territory of the diocese of Nîmes .

On November 29, 1801, the Alais diocese was dissolved as a result of the Concordat of 1801 by Pope Pius VII with the papal bull Qui Christi Domini and the territory was annexed to the dioceses of Avignon and Mende .

The diocese of Alais was subordinate to the Archdiocese of Narbonne as a suffragan . In 1744 the diocese comprised 80 parishes .

On February 9, 2009, the Alais diocese was re-established as the titular diocese Arisitum .
