The Diocese of Hanyang ( lat. : Dioecesis Haniamensis ) is in the People's Republic of China Located Roman Catholic diocese based in Hanyang . Since 1956, the diocese has been vacant due to the difficulties between the communist regime of China and the Catholic Church.
history
The diocese of Hanyang was founded on December 12, 1923 by Pope Pius XI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Quo christiani from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate of East Hubei as Apostolic Prefecture Hanyang . The Hanyang Apostolic Prefecture was founded on July 14, 1927 by Pius XI. raised to the apostolic vicariate .
The Apostolic Vicariate Hanyang was on April 11, 1946 by Pope Pius XII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Hankow as a suffragan .
