history

The diocese Mahagi-Nioka was on July 2, 1962 by Pope John XXIII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Quod Venerabiles from cessions of territory of the Bunia diocese as the Mahagi diocese . The diocese of Mahagi was renamed the Diocese of Mahagi-Nioka on October 30, 1967 .

The diocese of Mahagi-Nioka is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Kisangani as a suffragan .
