history
The diocese of Nnewi was established on November 9, 2001 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Ministry apostolicum from the cession of territory to the Archdiocese of Onitsha and subordinated to it as a suffragan diocese. First Bishop was Hilary Paul Odili Okeke .
