Diocese of Sagone
The Diocese of Sagone ( lat. : Dioecesis Sagonensis ) was one in France situated Roman Catholic diocese , which in Sagone was founded.
history
The diocese of Sagone was established in the 8th century. The first bishop was Martino Tomitano . On April 27, 1092, the Diocese of Sagone was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Pisa as a suffragan diocese by Pope Urban II with the Papal Bull Cum universis . Pirate attacks and malaria resulted in the episcopal see being moved to Vico and later to Calvi in 1572 .
In 1671 the Diocese of Sagone comprised about 18 parishes .
On November 29, 1801, the Diocese of Sagone was dissolved as a result of the Concordat of 1801 by Pope Pius VII with the Papal Bull Qui Christi Domini and the territory was incorporated into the Diocese of Ajaccio .
In April 2002 the diocese of Sagone was re-established as the titular diocese of Sagona .
