The Diocese of Thuckalay ( Latin : Dioecesis Thuckalayensis ) is a diocese of the Syro-Malabar Church, united with the Roman Catholic Church, with its seat in Thuckalay in India . It includes the district Kanyakumari , and the taluk of the district Tirunelveli in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu .

history

Pope John Paul II founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Apud Indorum Gentes on November 11, 1996 from cessions of territory from the Archeparchy of Changanacherry , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan diocese.
