The diocese Vélez ( lat. : Dioecesis Velezana , span. : Diócesis de Vélez ) is an in Colombia situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Vélez .

history

The Diocese of Vélez was established on May 14, 2003 by Pope John Paul II from cessions of territory from the Diocese of Socorro y San Gil and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Bucaramanga as a suffragan . Luis Albeiro Cortés Rendón was the first bishop until November 2015 .
