That in the People's Republic of China Located diocese Yanzhou (lat .: Dioecesis Ienceuvensis ) was on 8. January 1886 as Apostolic Vicariate of Scian tone Meridionale justified, but changed his name at the 3. December 1924 on "Apostolic Vicariate of Yenchowfu" before it was raised to the diocese on April 11, 1946 under the name Yenchow .
The diocese belonging to the ecclesiastical province of Jinan had 60,000 Catholics in 1950 , which represented 1.5% of the population in this region. With nine diocesan priests , 30 religious priests and 24 religious sisters, it was a mission area of the Steyler missionaries , who also provided the apostolic vicars and bishops; there were only two.
The Holy Roman Fathers Johann Baptist von Anzer (1885–1903), Augustin Henninghaus (1904–1935) and Teodoro Schu (1935–1965) officiated as bishops .
Due to the political situation, after the death of Bishop Teodoro Schu, SVD, on August 2, 1965, the diocese could no longer be occupied until the Vatican recognized John Lu Peisan in 2018 .
