history

The band was founded in 2000 in Basel by school friends Dan Solbach, David Atwood, Melchior Quitt and Harry Darling under the name "Hot Cut-Up Pancake & the Grannies On Flying Wheelchairs".

In 2008 the band was renamed to today's name "Bitch Queens". In 2009 singer and bassist David Atwood left the band. In August of the same year the guitarist Melchior Quitt took over the role as singer. Marcel Colomb was accepted into the band as bass player.

After recording two demo albums in 2004 and 2007 and the EP High Strung in 2009, the band's actual debut album, Female Shotgun , was released in 2010 . Joachim Hiller came to the conclusion in the Ox-Fanzine : “The production is perfect and super dry, and if you didn't know that the men are from Switzerland, I would have guessed the USA and a Jack Endino production. Eleven songs that run through very smoothly. ”Moritz Alves, who has already reviewed the EP High Strung , recommended the debut album on the online magazine RockTimes with the words“ Testing is worth it! ”In 2013, founding member Dan Solbach left the band, and Daniel became the winner Schönenberger recorded as guitarist.

In 2014 the album Kill Your Friends was released. The publication took place as part of the 4-year anniversary celebration of Soulseller magazine under the motto “Respect The Rock” in the Berlin-Kreuzberg “Cortina Bob”. In his review on musikreviews.de, Norman R. came to the final opinion that Bitch Queens “as a fan of the above-mentioned bands ( The Hellacopters , Backyard Babies , Turbonegro , Danko Jones ) should definitely be on the slip and at the next opportunity with one Concert of the boys really let the pig out ”should. Jens Peters and Thomas Kupfer rated the album at Rock Hard with a grade of 8.0.

In 2015 the band was nominated for the Basel Pop Prize and toured in Japan . They published their impressions of the tour as a four-part video tour diary on the video platform YouTube .

In 2017 the third album LOVE was released on the Basel label Lux Noise with which the band toured in Europe and the USA. The Ox-Fanzine rates the record with a grade of 7/10 and describes the Bitch Queens as the successor to Turbonegros .

In autumn 2019 the band released their fourth album City Of Class. The record was released with three music videos and was named "goddamn R'n'R record of the year" in Classic Rock Magazine with 9/10 points.
