Bitter von Raesfeld (* in the 16th century; † July 28, 1584 ) was canon in various dioceses.

Life

Bitter von Raesfeld came from the Westphalian noble family von Raesfeld , from which numerous well-known personalities emerged. They belonged to the Catholic faith . He was the son of Goswin von Raesfeld and his wife Agnes von Twickel. On June 20, 1568, the Pope issued an order to bring Bitter into possession of a Münster cathedral canonical. On August 21 of that year he received the cathedral praise from the late canon Wilhelm Valke and five days later had a proxy announce the waiver to the papal nuncio . At that time Bitter was a canon at St. Lebuin in Deventer . In Münster he renounced on October 1, 1569, while in Eichstätt the renunciation was already pronounced on June 8. In 1571 he was reassigned to the cathedral chapter . On February 3, 1576 he was the last of five members of the von Raesfeld family in the cathedral chapter. In August 1576 the cathedral chapter instructed him, together with Konrad von Westerholt and Johann Schade, to be an embassy to Duke Wilhelm von Kleve-Jülich . On July 20, 1584, Bitter made his will and considered his siblings. The main heir should be his brother Johann. His maidservant and her daughter Katharina, whose father he was, were also given consideration.
