action

Chris O'Brien, a young, devout graduate of the Police Academy, is partnered with Nora 'Hugs' Hugosian, an experienced and daring colleague. Even on the first patrols, Nora made sexual advances for him. It also turns out that Chris is completely overwhelmed in an "emergency". So Nora has to make use of her gun and kill one of the drug dealers under surveillance.

The police investigation in Los Angeles mainly focuses on a serial killer who always kills his victims with a targeted shot in the left eye. At the scene of one of these murders, the investigators find tire marks left by a patrol car. Thus, the investigations of the criminal police, under the direction of Detectives Herzel and Dombrowsky, concentrate on their professional colleagues. The suspicion falls mainly on Nora, as the victims are only among the suspects with whom Nora had contact. In a comparison, however, a witness clearly recognizes the patrol officer Michael Clemence as the perpetrator. If he tries to arrest him, he threatens to kill himself when he is very drunk, but Chris can stop him from doing so. The next day Nora exonerates Clemence by saying that she was with him during the time of the crime. This alibi is particularly questioned by Chris, who visited Nora at home that evening and watched her leave her house at the time in question. The suspicion grows in him that Nora is using this to obtain an alibi for herself. Regardless, he gives in to his feelings towards Nora.

Nevertheless, his doubts remain and these are still nourished when he finds out that a Nora pistol corresponds to the model of the murder weapon. He begins to research Nora's environment.

Although it is against service regulations, Chris is persuaded by Dombrowsky to search Nora's house for the pistol. Although he cannot find the weapon anywhere, he comes across notes and letters about the death of Nora's father, who was murdered some years ago by her brother Armen. Chris and Dombrowsky investigate this case and learn that Armen Hugosian murdered his father in revenge for sexually abusing Nora. The fatal shot went right in the left eye. After the fact, he is said to have committed suicide. When the search of Nora's apartment becomes known, Chris is suspended from duty and Nora ends their relationship.

That same evening he received a call from Ernie Pitts, Clemence's partner. The latter tells him that he overheard a quarrel between Nora and Michael, whereupon Chris warns him to go to safety. When the connection is suddenly interrupted, Chris immediately rushes to Clemence's apartment, from whom Pitts called, but only finds Pitts' corpse, which has the same traces as the killer's victims. He also meets a heavily drunk Clemence. Although Clemence is a witness to the crime, he refuses to testify against Nora. But even without Clemence's statement, Nora is now the main suspect and the investigators initiate a large-scale manhunt for her. Shortly thereafter, Chris is shot and slightly injured and admitted to hospital. There he asks Dombrowsky to leave her service weapon behind for self-defense. Dombrowsky agrees, although it is against the regulations.

At night, Nora disguised herself as a patient and gains access to Chris' room. Just in time, before Nora can pull the trigger, Chris Dombrowsky's gun gets hold of and Nora can shot in the stomach. Shortly afterwards, Clemence enters the room and identifies himself as Armen Hugosian. Contrary to the investigation at the time, Nora's brother is alive. Armen now wants to kill Chris too, but is shot by Nora.

criticism

"Really tough police thriller, which is characterized by a cunning book and its dense atmosphere and is able to entertain friends of the genre - despite some clichés."
