The Black Devon , also South Devon , the upper reaches as Nettly Burn , is a river in the Scottish Council Areas Fife and Clackmannanshire . It rises around 300 m above sea level in the Cleish Hills about one kilometer north of the Knockhill Racing Circuit .
course
Initially running in an easterly direction, the Nettly Burn describes a wide arc, only to flow west from now on. After around three kilometers, the A823 crosses it at the Knockhill Racing Circuit. Another 4.5 km downstream it reaches the hamlet of Balgonar north of Saline . Flowing further west through a sparsely populated region, the Black Devon marks the border between the Council Areas of Fife and Clackmannanshire for a stretch of around two kilometers, and then runs up to its confluence in the area of the latter.
He reaches the hamlet of Forrestmill , where the A977 crosses. To the west it passes the Gartmorn Dam . Part of the guided water is fed to the lake via an artificial connection. At the level of Gartmorn Dam, the course of the river bends to the southwest. The river borders Clackmannan in the north, where the A907 also crosses. He describes an arc at the westernmost extension of which the river touches the city of Alloa . After a total length of 24 km, the Black Devon flows into the Forth around two kilometers southwest and southeast of the centers of Clackmannan and Alloa .
