The Black Mesa is a 1737 meter high table mountain ( mesa ) in the US state of Colorado , as well as in the neighboring states of New Mexico and Oklahoma . The Black Mesa is made of basalt and extends over a length of almost 90 km and has a relative height of 180 meters above the surrounding area. To the south, Table Mountain is accompanied by the Cimarron River , which takes in the Carrizo Creek coming from the north side near Kenton .
Highest point in Oklahoma
The highest point of Oklahoma is located on the eastern part of the Black Mesa ( location ) in Cimarron County , in the so-called Oklahoma Panhandle , the westernmost part of the state, near the border with New Mexico and has a height of 1516 meters. The point is marked with a granite monument and is located in a 6.5 km² nature reserve, the Black Mesa Nature Preserve . In the area of the nature reserve there are 23 rare plant and 8 rare animal species, four different habitats can be distinguished.
