action
After the death of his mother, the Kroner family moves into a new house. One day the son Tommy finds an old, locked chest in the attic that contains a diary and an old mirror. In the diary, a stranger reports that he killed his entire family under the influence of the mirror. Despite this warning, Tommy hangs the mirror in his room. After Tommy's friend Petra has looked in the mirror, she walks into the street in a trance and is run over by a car. The following nights the desperate Tommy is plagued by dreams in which Petra attacks him and he has to kill her to protect himself. After looking in the mirror, Tommy turns into a monster and kills his entire family. His best friend Frankie also falls victim to this beast, but manages with the last of his strength to destroy the mirror and kill Tommy. In the last scene you can see Frankie sitting next to his car. Suddenly Petra appears and shoots Frankie.
criticism
“Apparently the debut film of a German horror film fan who doesn't want to deny his role models, but tries to copy them with pleasure and with a range of cheap effects. After Burning Moon another impertinence from the horror specialist from Fürstenfeldbruck. "
background
Black Past was discussed in Splatting Image magazine and thus known to a larger target group. The production costs amounted to only 10,000 DM. The money was mainly used for the effects. Most of the actors were friends of Ittenbach. The first version of the film was confiscated nationwide, so that initially a heavily cut version with a running time of 67 minutes was released. In 2000 a director's cut with a running time of 83 minutes was finally released.
