action

Nathalie Stein, a bitter young woman, is in a war of divorce with her husband Tim. As a trained specialist lawyer, she wants to ensure that he is never allowed to see their two children, Jeremy and Elisabeth, again. However, the three of them still have one last visit and Nathalie is more than skeptical. Then her dog disappears and someone puts a bloody sign with the inscription "Dard" ( Persian for "pain") in the kitchen. Panicked, she calls the police, and thus Detective James Gates. Since the police can't help her, she decides to meet Tim and the children in Chinatown . Tim does not show up at the agreed meeting point.

At home she is sitting on the veranda when Tim suddenly appears completely covered in blood and dies in front of her eyes. With the last of his strength he can still say that someone kidnapped the children. She runs up the kitchen and informs the police. When she arrives in the form of Detective Phil Warren, the body has disappeared. Phil is a corrupt cop and overpowers Nathalie. He says Tim broke up a drug deal with the Persian Moha and ran away with all that cocaine and a million dollars . He must have hidden the goods here. Then he begins to torture Nathalie in order to squeeze the information out of her. After he has cut off a finger and a toe with a hedge trimmer, Nathalie manages to free herself and kill him with a broken bottle.

Shortly afterwards, the mysterious Daniel appears, who treats her and calms her down. He tells a different story: Tim got into the drug deal by chance and the two suitcases got into his possession through no fault of his own. Then he went into hiding. However, Daniel's intentions are less noble than he pretends: He stuns Nathalie and removes the corpse. When Nathalie wakes up, she is tied up. Daniel describes how he killed and tortured Nathalie's lover and then begins to torture Nathalie as well. While still standing under local anesthesia , she can free herself and kills Daniel with a knife. With serious injuries to her face, she escapes the stairs and receives a phone call from Gates. He sends her daughter Elisabeth in and points a sniper rifle at her head. Nathalie is feverishly looking for the solution to the riddle and, together with Elisabeth, comes up with the solution: an old children's song by Tim should reveal the location. When Elisabeth picks up a pen, Gates shoots her in the shoulder. Nathalie takes Daniel's pistol and shoots Gates.

Nathalie runs alone into the corn field and meets Tim, who has her son with him. He tells the real story: Gates had used Tim as an informant and was supposed to convict Moha. Since Gates was one of the most corrupt cops in the area, Tim should also get him the drugs and the money. Tim added E 605 to the coffee in the drug deal and then shot the other party. He went into hiding with the money. Now he just has to pass Nathalie. As he is about to kill her, Elisabeth shoots him from behind. Nathalie and her children start a new life.

background

Olaf Ittenbach used his own house as a location for the film due to the low budget and only shot on the weekends. Further pictures were taken in a nearby restaurant and in a farm. Filming began on September 28, 2006 and continued through July 7, 2007. For outdoor shots in the United States, Ittenbach traveled across the United States with his wife Martina Ittenbach and shot shots in San Francisco , Los Angeles , the Price Canyon and in the Nevada desert . Another exterior shot took place at a small property between Ridgecrest and Inyokern . Christopher Kriesa , an old friend of Ittenbach, took a small part. The film was completed in English turned and German dubbed as an international marketing was aimed at.

The premiere took place at a film festival in Spain, the German premiere at a special event of the Weekend of Fear on November 27, 2007 together with 100 Tears . The film was also screened at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival 2008.

The German version had to be shortened by about six minutes due to a targeted age approval by the SPIO / JK, and a total of 15 minutes were lost to get approval from the FSK. An unabridged edition is available in Austria from Dragon Entertainment. Boll AG took over global sales .

criticism

"Violent horror film in a low-budget outfit that pleases itself in the series of bloodbaths."

“So what is the impression left? There are deductions for dialogues, plot, characters. In terms of craftsmanship, a reasonably decent impression remains. The only thing Olaf Ittenbach can manage are brutal scenes with lots of fake blood, outbreaks of violence, S / M gimmicks and other disgusting things. The film takes itself too seriously to be considered a fun film. So Dard Divorce remains only a film for real gorehounds or fans who still haven't had enough of the torture porn of the ongoing torture film wave. "
