Blackwood Creek was one of Littleton (Colorado) native American Hard - and blues-rock band. The band was founded by Peter Fletcher as well as Paul, Nate and Kip Winger .

history

The group was founded in 1969 as a school band and consisted of Kip Winger and his brothers Paul and Nate (drums), as well as the guitarist Peter Fletcher. Musical role models were Grand Funk Railroad and the James Gang . The band played at school parties, and later also in nightclubs , and mostly offered cover versions of songs by well-known bands such as Grand Funk Railroad, Black Sabbath , Lynyrd Skynyrd , Led Zeppelin , but also their own material. It broke up in 1980 when Nate Winger moved to Los Angeles to work as a session musician in the future. Peter Fletcher joined Pigmy Love Circus , Kip Winger first became bassist for Alice Cooper and later founded his own band Winger with Reb Beach .

In 2009 Blackwood Creek found together again without Paul Winger to record an album ( Blackwood Creek ) for Frontiers Records , which offered a mixture "between modern hard rock and old blues rock preferences", but was commercially unsuccessful. The group played a concert at Eck's Saloon in Denver in 2010 .

Nate Winger died in August 2019, the group's only album was re-released on October 18, 2019 through various online music services .
