Richard Blake Parker (born June 19, 1985 in Fayetteville , Arkansas ) is an American professional baseball player in Major League Baseball . He currently plays for the Philadelphia Phillies in the position of relief pitcher (substitute thrower) .
Career
He was signed on June 10, 2006 in the 16th round of the MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs as an amateur. After several years in the Cubs' farm system , he made it to Major League Baseball on May 17, 2012 . On his debut against the Philadelphia Phillies , Parker threw 1 2/3 innings , allowing 2 hits and 3 runs (none of which earned ). Parker began his career with the number 55 jersey , but switched to the number 50 during the 2012 season, which he wore all his time with the Cubs.
Parker joined his current team, the Philadelphia Phillies, through the Seattle Mariners , New York Yankees , Los Angeles Angels and Minnesota Twins .
