Blaudzun (bourgeois Johannes Sigmond , born on October 26, 1974 in Arnhem ) is a Dutch musician who belongs to the singer-songwriter genre.

Naming

The stage name Blaudzun is based on the Danish cyclist Verner Blaudzun , who was one of the best-known amateur cyclists in the 1960s and 1970s.

Career

Blaudzun first attracted attention in 2007 when he released his first EP called Loveliesbleeding and then played a sold-out club tour through the Netherlands and Belgium . In addition, he was on tour with Ane Brun as support . In April 2008 he released his first studio album Blaudzun on the V2 Records label , followed in February 2010 with Seadrift Soundmachine, the second album for which he collaborated with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra ( Filharmonici města Prahy ), among others .

Blaudzun achieved greater fame with his third studio album, Heavy Flowers , for which he received the 3voor12 award for “Best Album”. Heavy Flowers stayed in the Dutch album charts for 70 weeks and achieved gold status in the Netherlands, which corresponds to sales of 20,000 records. His album Promises of No Man's Land also received gold in 2018 . Another club tour followed through the Benelux countries as well as appearances at various music festivals .

The fourth studio album Promises of No Man's Land was released on March 7, 2014 on V2 Records and for Germany, Austria and Switzerland on Glitterhouse Records . It entered the Dutch album charts at number 1 and in Belgium it reached number 6.

When performing live, Blaudzun plays with a band of up to nine people.
