Stay or Go ” is the fourth album by the German punk band Feine Sahne Fischfilet , which was released on January 23, 2015 on the Audiolith label as LP, CD and download. As with the previous album Scheitern und Verinden , the release party took place at Klempenow Castle.

background

Stay or Go is the band's second album to be released on the independent label Audiolith Records. The album was produced by Thorsten Otto, who was already responsible for the production of the Beatsteaks album Limbo Messiah . Work on the album lasted about a year.

The forerunner of the album was the video for For this one night in November 2014 , the later opener of the album. Directed by Aron Krause. The video shows younger versions of the band as a youthful gang. The accompanying single was released on December 18, 2014 as 7 '' with a remix of the song by The Glitz .

On January 16, 2015, a week before the release date, the video for I believe you (director: Max Gleschinski) was released.

Cover artwork

The cover , an oil painting by LuisFe, shows singer Jan “Monchi” Gorkow and Kai “Champ” Irrgang as young people in front of a village facade. Kai Irrgang is sitting on a bicycle.

“Our first video also fits in for this one night, in which our little brothers, nephews and acquaintances play younger versions of ourselves. Two of them landed on the cover, once the brother of our bass player and a boy from my neighborhood who just looks like me and with whom I hang out a lot. For the cover we went to Grimmen in the deepest part of Western Pomerania, because we knew there was such a great, old, fucked up street and took a photo there. Then a friend of ours, Felipe, painted this oil painting. I'm not the kind of art guy, that's why I have absolutely no relation to it, but I thought it was awesome - he worked on it for 240 hours. "

- Jan “Monchi” Gorkow : “People act as if they saved each other's asses in the war” - Fine cream fish fillet

“The idea was to reflect that: a youth in the village. The subject of “stay or go?” Was simply kept in mind. Many friends have left, moved away or friendships have broken up. "

- Jan “Monchi” Gorkow : Right in the middle

style

As in the previous albums, the musical basis is punk rock . Trumpets can also be heard in some of the songs. A subtle Ska influence can be found in the individual songs. Anger also includes a rap part for the first time . The texts describe the decision and the conflict in the province between breaking up and continuity. This raises the question of “staying or going”, based on Should I Stay Or Should I Go by The Clash , which is quoted several times. Some of the texts are emphatically political. Their self-image by one anti-fascist band, among other solidarity concerts for murdered Antifa occurs -Anhänger in Moscow, consult some texts against the power monopoly of the state and against deportation . Compared to the previous album, however, the political took a back seat. The remaining texts deal with friendship and love as well as the lack of prospects in the country. Some of the lyrics are very personal, like Waiting for the Sea, dealing with the death of a close friend.

success

The album reached number 21 in the German album charts.
