Blies-Schweyen

Blies-Schweyen ( German  Bliesschweyen ) is a district of Blies-Guersviller (France) in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ).

Bliesschweyen is located on the Blies , which forms the border with Germany here. On the other side of the river is the Saarland village of Blieshaben-Bolchen .

history

In the Middle Ages, the place shared the fortunes of the Wölferdingen farm . In 1661 the von Helmstatt men sold Wölferdingen to the von der Leyen men .

In 1781 Wölferdingen came under French rule through an exchange of territory with Wustweiler and Bliesschweyen. In 1811 Bliesschweyen and Bliesgersweiler were united into one community.

economy

On October 7th, 1892, after buying up three mills with water rights, the Adt brothers founded the “Blies-Elektrizitätswerke”, a hydroelectric power station which, in addition to Adt's factories, also supplied various private customers and, since 1907, the community of Ensheim with electricity. The factory was expropriated along with the rest of the Adt brothers' works in Lorraine after the First World War .
