Bling Dawg , also known as Ricky Rudie (* 1982 as Marlon Ricardo Williams in Kingston , Jamaica ) is a Jamaican reggae - and dancehall - Deejay .

biography

Williams was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1982 and grew up in Portland Parish and later in Miami , USA . His first stage name Ricky Rudy is a reference to the Jamaican expression Rude Bwoy . He already wore this in Jamaica. He got his later stage name Bling Dawg from friends in Miami after he got himself a silver dog collar (Bling Dawg is a slang expression for Blinking Dog and means blinking / glittering dog). Since 2001 it has only been called Bling Dawg.

In Miami, Bling Dawg began working as a deejay on various sound systems . He met the Jamaican Deejay Bounty Killer through the Jamaican musicians Dugsy Ranks and Biko Bailey . They recorded a couple of songs together; after that, Bounty Killer suggested he move back to Jamaica, as dancehall is more popular there. In 1999 he released his first single called Got It Goin 'On on the VP Records label . In Jamaica he met Beenie Man a year later , who was working on his new track Circumstances on the famous Orgasm Riddim . Together they recorded the song Facts on the same riddim , which was later not included on the riddim album.

Bling Dawg has been represented at many well-known reggae and dancehall festivals, such as B. the Sting Festival , Fully Loaded or the Reggae Sumfest . He has toasted or sung songs on many well-known riddims , e.g. B. on the Martial Arts Riddim , Applause Riddim , Good To Go Riddim or the Egyptian Riddim .
