Fully Loaded
The Fully Loaded is a dancehall - Open Air at the James Bond Beach in Oracabessa , in the Parish of St. Mary in Jamaica . The festival has been held every year since 1986 between late June and early August. It is considered the largest beach party in Jamaica. The organizer is the Jamaican concert agency Solid Agency . It is one of the most important events in the dancehall scene, especially for newcomers , as they have the chance to perform alongside well-known greats in order to gain more attention.
concept
The concept of the event is unusual compared to other festivals. There are no consecutive individual concerts. The artists perform rather sequentially in the form of a Deejay - Clash ( Battle ) on. Most of the event follows the concept of the open mic . It is not uncommon for several well-known artists from the dancehall scene to be on stage together. The festival usually starts with performances by newcomers . During the course of the event, these will be replaced by well-known greats from the dancehall scene. The festival then ends with one or more big clashes between the current greats of dance hall, which cause a stir in Jamaica every year. Is known z. B. Buju Banton's joint appearance with Elephant Man , Bounty Killer , Wayne Marshall and Vybz Kartel in 2004. In between there are also soundclashes from sound systems .
Trivia
- Tony Matterhorn is also called Mr. Fully Loaded because he is known for his clashes at the festival.
- A highlight of the festival each year is the performance of beatboxer Doug E. Fresh .
- In 1998 the Deejay Vybz Kartel fell off the stage after a too wild stage show. He was unharmed.
- In 2007, unusually, there was no clash.
- In 2008 the festival was ended prematurely by the police at 3.30am.
