Blood Feast is an American thrash and death metal band that was formed in 1985 in Bayonne , New Jersey under the name Blood Lust . The band broke up in 1991, had a concert in 1999 and finally got back together permanently in 2007.

history

The band was founded in 1985 by drummer Kevin Kuzma, bassist Louis Starita, singer Gary Markovitch and guitarist Adam Tranquilli under the name Blood Lust . In February 1986 the band recorded their first demo called The Suicidal Missions . In the same month Michael Basden joined the band as the second guitarist. In May, the band was approached by New Renaissance Records , who had the band appear on the compilations Thrash Metal Attack and Speed ​​Metal Hell Volume 3 . Shortly thereafter, the band changed their name to Blood Feast . In June 1986 the band signed a contract with. The recordings for the first album were financed by the band itself. In February 1987 the band released the debut album Kill for Pleasure . This was followed by some live performances. A feature of these was that each concert ended with a cover version of Into Crypts of Rays by Celtic Frost .

In the same year the band recorded an EP and released Face Fate in December 1987. In June 1988 the band recorded a demo that contained ten songs. Guitarist Adam Tranquili was no longer active in the band at this point. The demo was called The Last Remains . The band later changed the name to Chopping Block Blues and released the demo in album form in February 1990. The recordings for this took place in the summer of 1989. Shortly after the release, the band broke up. In 1999 the band found themselves for a one-time appearance at the March Metal Meltdown in Asbury Park , New Jersey.

In 2002 Kevin Kuzma founded his own label called Militia Records and released the compilation Remnants: The Last Remains . This included demo and live recordings, as well as other unreleased songs.

In 2007 the band reunited. The band now consisted of the founding members Kevin Kuzma and Adam Tranquili, as well as electric guitarist John Blicharz and singer Tony Stanziano, who were already with Annunaki . In addition, bassist Tom Lorenzo from Without End was now part of the cast. In the winter of 2008 the band played their first gig with Obituary . This was followed by appearances with Possessed , At War and Mortician .

style

The band is compared to Dark Angel in terms of aggressiveness and musically to Slayer . The singing is compared to that of Paul Baloff ( Exodus ). On their Myspace page, the band lists death and thrash metal bands from the early 1980s as their main influences.
