Bloodlust is an American speed and thrash metal band from Los Angeles , California that was formed in 1983, split up in 1988, and reunited in 2004.

history

The band was formed in 1983 after guitarist Earl Mendenhall joined a band called Warlock, which also featured drummer ME Cuestas, singer Guy Lord and guitarist Anthony Romero. A short time later, bassist Sandy K. came along and completed the line-up. After Steve Gaines, brother of Stryper bassist Tim Gaines, joined the band as the new singer, performances with bands like Slayer , WASP , Bitch , Lizzy Borden , Abattoir , Savage Grace and Holy Terror followed . Then the band reached a contract with Metal Blade Records . After the debut album Guilty as Sin had been recorded, singer Gaines left the band to join the band Abattoir, so Guy Lord returned to the band. The already recorded album was released in early 1985. This was followed by tours with Megadeth , Flotsam and Jetsam , Sanctuary and Savatage . Due to some problems, the band separated from singer Lord, guitarist Romero, drummer Cuestas and Metal Blade Records and its management. Guitarist John Lisi, drummer Craig Kasin and recurring singer Gaines joined the band as new members. In 1988 the EP Terminal Velocity was released via Wild Rags Records , whereupon the band consisted of singer Gaines, guitarists Earl Mendenhall and John Lisi, bassist Sandy K. and drummer Craig Kasin. The release was followed by a tour of the USA before the band split up that same year. In the summer of 2004 the band came together again and consisted of the members Mendenhall, Gaines, Cuestas, Sandy K. and Lisi.

style

The band plays fast-paced and aggressive speed and thrash metal. The rough vocals and the songs, which are very melodic for the genre, are also particularly characteristic.
