Bloodnight (Original title: Intruder ) is an American slasher film of the serial killer genre from 1989. The film is the feature film debut by Scott Spiegel .

action

Jennifer Ross is a hypermarket clerk who is separated from her ex-boyfriend, Craig Peterson. One day, however, her boyfriend shows up and tries in vain to persuade her to start a new relationship. When he grabs her and starts threatening her, several men intervene. The following night, Craig wants to apologize, but gets into an argument with his rival Bill. In the following minutes, a serial killer appears who kills all the supporting characters in the hypermarket one after the other. In the showdown, Bill turns out to be a serial killer and is killed by Craig. The approaching police mistakenly mistake Craig and Jennifer for the killers and arrest them.

background

The actor can be seen among others Sam Raimi , who directed the Tanz der Teufel trilogy ( Dance of the Devils , Dance of the Devils 2 and Army of Darkness ) and is responsible for the film adaptations of the Spider-Man comics. Raimi went to high school in Detroit with director Spiegel and the two often star in each other's films - often as a cameo . The film also shows Bruce Campbell and Lawrence Bender as police officers and Spiegel himself as a supplier. Campbell and Raimi were especially advertised for the film, although both can only be seen in supporting roles.

Reviews

“Contemporaries who are only looking to shimmy from one gore scene to the next splatter will hardly be able to enjoy this film - because director Spiegel devotes himself far too intensively to portraying the characters he has created. This style of the director brought the film Bloodnight the often criticized disadvantage of certain lengths and emptiness. Of course, the film has a tight budget - but equating a tight budget with the resultant result of a less entertaining film would be a very superficial way of thinking. "
