Blue Ivy Carter (born January 7, 2012 in New York City ) is an American singer. She is the daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z . Her singing on Beyoncé's Brown Skin Girl makes her the youngest artist ever to hit the US Billboard charts with a song.

Life

Blue Ivy Carter was born on January 7, 2012 to pop singer Beyoncé and rapper Jay-Z in New York's Lennox Hill Hospital.

Just two days after her birth, Jay-Z used his little daughter's babbling and screaming for the single Glory . At the age of one she had a cameo on the song Blue from Beyoncé's self-titled 2013 album . At the age of five she made her rap debut on the track Blue's Freestyle / We Family on her father Jay-Z's album 4:44 . She then appeared in the two Beyoncé videos for Spirit and Bigger , which were part of the 2019 film The Lion King . The soundtrack also included the song Brown Skin Girl , on which she sang along on the first and last verses. She achieved her first placement on the Billboard Hot 100 at the age of seven . The single came to number 76 on the charts. She is the youngest person to have a Billboard Hot 100 hit.

Private life

Blue Ivy Carter attends private school in Los Angeles. She is the couple's oldest daughter. In 2017 she had two siblings with the twins Sir and Rumi.

Honors

In 2012 Blue Ivy Carter received honorary citizenship of the Croatian city ​​of Hvar . Her name is said to be based on a tree on Hvar that is entwined with blue ivy , which the future parents are said to have seen during a visit in September 2011.
