Beyoncé is the fifth studio album by the American singer Beyoncé . It was released on December 13, 2013 on Columbia Records .

The first two singles from the album are Drunk In Love with Jay-Z and XO . Other releases are Partition , Pretty Hurts , Flawless *** with Nicki Minaj and 7/11 .

Emergence

Work on Beyoncé began in the Hamptons in the summer of 2012 . In January 2013, Knowles recruited Timbaland , Pharrell Williams, and the as-yet-unknown Boots as primary producers.

Knowles released their album Beyoncé surprisingly on December 13, 2013 without notice. The album first appeared as a download exclusively from the iTunes Store . It was also released on CD and DVD on December 20, 2013 . There are 14 songs on the CD and 17 videos on the DVD. In some countries, a Blu-ray disc was included with the album instead of the DVD .

On November 24, 2014, the album was re-released as Beyoncé: Platinum Edition . The new version contains the CD and DVD of the normal version, two new songs and four remix versions, a mini calendar and a DVD with live performances from The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour .

criticism

Beyoncé received mixed media coverage. The world described Knowle's album as "a collection of plenty of sultry but otherwise sloppy ballads". The Rheinische Post, on the other hand, describes Beyoncé in its online edition simply as "great". Tagesspiegel sees the album as demonstrating Knowles 'claim to be a modern and relevant figure in the pop world, but criticizes Knowles' contradicting staging, especially in the videos. The taz also criticizes Knowles' contradictions, but praises her music and writes that Knowles has become an "album artist".

At Metacritic , a website that calculates various ratings from various US media outlets, Beyoncé received a Metascore of 85% based on 34 reviews.

Commercial win

Beyoncé debuted at number 1 on the American Billboard 200 album chart on December 15, 2013 . It is Knowle's fifth number 1 album in a row. She is the first female artist to have her first five studio albums debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200. The album stayed at number 1 for another two weeks. For over two million albums sold in the US, Knowles was awarded two platinum records . In the British singles charts , Beyoncé rose to number 5 on December 15, 2013. in the fifth week the album reached its highest ranking at number 2. On February 7, 2014, Knowles received a platinum record from the British Phonographic Industry for over 300,000 albums sold in the UK.

In Germany, the album entered the German album charts on January 3, 2014 and reached number 11. In Austria, it was number 12. In Switzerland, the album climbed to number 4 on the album charts there and sold over 15,000 copies awarded a gold record. Knowles also reached # 1 with her album in Australia, Canada, Croatia, the Netherlands and Russia. By 2015 the album had sold five million times worldwide.
