Dangerously in Love is a R & B - Soul - Song of the US R & B - girl group Destiny's Child . Front woman Beyoncé Knowles wrote and produced the song. The ballad was only recorded for Destiny's Child's third studio album, Survivor, from 2001. Knowles sings this song, like many others on the album, completely solo.

In 2003, Knowles recorded the song for their debut album of the same name . The song is called there Dangerously in Love 2 to distinguish the song from the album and the song of the same name by Destiny's Child.

Background and criticism

The Destiny's Child version of the song didn't make it to the charts. Therefore it was used for promotion and not released as a single . The song was consistently praised by critics and described as the highlight of the album Survivor .

Dangerously in Love 2

Knowles recorded the song again in 2003 for her debut album Dangerously in Love , this time entitled Dangerously in Love 2 . Knowles' version of the title received even more critical acclaim than the original version of Destiny's Child. In the US, the song received strong radio airplay and was released there as the last single on the album. In other countries, the song, for which there is no official music video , was never released. The song is included on Knowles' DVD Beyoncé: Live at Wembley .

Knowles sang Dangerously in Love 2 live for the first time at the 2004 Grammy Awards , where the song won a Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance . Beyoncé often sings the song live with Crazy in Love , and on her first world tour, The Beyoncé Experience Tour, with her live cover version of Jill Scott's song He Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat) from 2000.

On June 14, 2006, Dangerously in Love was awarded gold by the RIAA for over 500,000 copies sold .

Commercial win

Beyoncé's version of the song was placed in many US charts in 2004; Knowles used the song as a promotion for the album of the same name. In the American Billboard Hot 100 the single reached number 57 and later number 17 in the Hot R & B / Hip-Hop Songs chart. With the release of Knowle's third studio album, I Am… Sasha Fierce , the song reached number 31 on the Billboard Hot Ringtones chart in 2009, five years after it was released as a single and eight years after the Destiny's Child version was released.
