background

While filming Dreamgirls , Beyoncé went into the studio to begin work on the second album, B'Day . Knowles contacted producer Sean Garrett , who also wrote her hit Check on It . They went to Sony Music Studios in New York City . Knowles also hired hip-hop producer and rapper box office "Swizz Beatz" Dean, who had previously written and produced for Knowles. In addition to her little sister Solange Knowles , Beyoncé also engaged her cousin Angela Beyince, who also worked on the debut album Dangerously in Love , and Makeba Riddick, who produced Knowles' hit Déjà Vu .

Beyoncé took a lot of inspiration from her sister Solange, who also co-wrote the song, and Destiny's Child founders and band members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams . In the song, Knowles uses the line "three best friends" in relation to them.

Musical and content

Get Me Bodied is a hip-hop song with elements of funk , crunk , bounce , rap and R&B . The song is about seven minutes long in the original version. Before the song begins, Beyoncé says erotic 9-4-8-1 , regarding her date of birth. Then a monotonous hip-hop beat starts in the background and stays the same throughout the song. The beat is based on hip-hop. At the same time, a group of men take turns shouting hey! and yo! and clap their hands until the end of the song. Next, Beyoncé starts with the R&B vocals, which change as the song progresses. At times Beyoncé raps a few verses . In the middle of the song Beyoncé's soul singing starts with a mixture of crunk and funk, later bounce is added, the song ends with Beyoncé also with hey! . She wrote the lyrics herself and also produced the song. The melody of the song was created by Knowles' singing. Beyoncé always tries to keep her singing very erotic and sexual. Critics also describe Get Me Bodied as one of Knowles' many sex songs. Beyoncé received special praise for Get Me Bodied . Knowles' singing and the beat make it possible to assign the song to the dance-pop genre . The song became a club hit. The lyrics and the vocals make a lot reminiscent of Gwen Stefani's hit Hollaback Girl from 2005.

The line Do the uh oh, uh oh, uh oh, uh oh no no in the song Get Me Bodied comes from Knowles' worldwide number one hit Crazy in Love from 2003. Knowles also interprets the vocals of Get Me Bodied on their number one hit single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) from 2008.

The lyrics were written in verse- chorus form. The lyrics include many abbreviations and the forms of a hip-hop song. It's about Beyoncé's plans before she goes to a party with her three friends (the members of Destiny's Child and her little sister Solange ). During the party, Knowles wants to find a friend who will dance with her and enrich her sexually. In the lyrics, Knowles refers to Naomi Campbell and her own fashion company House of Dereon .
