I Am… Sasha Fierce is the third studio album by the American R&B singer Beyoncé . The release date in Germany was November 14, 2008. By the end of 2009 the album had sold over 2.5 million times in the United States alone. At the same time a deluxe edition of the album was released, on which five more pieces can be heard. The album earned Beyoncé five Grammys at the 2010 Grammy Awards .

production

Beyoncé recorded a total of 70 songs for this album between 2007 and 2008, which should show two sides of her. The record is therefore a double CD, CD number one is I Am…, which contains calm and very emotional songs. The record is supposed to represent the quiet side of the singer. Sasha Fierce shows the rocking side of the singer, Sasha Fierce is the alter ego of Beyoncé Knowles. Only Beyoncé can be heard on both records. In the US, the album was released on November 18, 2008 on Columbia Records .

content

According to the singer, one CD contains songs that contain mainstream music , but the other represents traditional R&B . For this album, she cultivated her alter ego Sasha, which she had already created in 2003, gave him the surname Fierce (in German roughly wild ), and dedicated a complete half of the new work to her second self. As she tells in interviews, Fierce is the person she transforms into when she is on tour , has photo shoots or gives shows . Beyoncé is only herself privately.

If I were a boy

If I Were a Boy was released on November 7, 2008 as the lead single of the album , which already reached number 100 on the Billboard Hot 100 just through high downloads and high airplay . In the next few weeks, the song rose to 68th place. After the CD was released, the song rose to third place on the US charts. This makes the song the ninth Top 10 hit by Knowles in the USA. The song also rose to number one on the charts in Denmark, Holland, Israel, Norway, New Zealand, Sweden and England. If I Were a Boy also made it to number one on the European Hot 100 Singles. The song was awarded gold.

promotion

To promote the single, Beyoncé presented the song in several shows. Among others in The Oprah Winfrey Show , the World Music Awards 2008, Saturday Night Live , the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008, Strictly Come Dancing, Total Request Live, BET's 106 & Park, The Ellen Degeneres Show, The Today Show, The X Factor, Star Academy (France) and The Tyra Banks Show.

Music video

The music video for If I Were a Boy , directed by Jake Nava, is completely black and white . In the video, Beyoncé's roles and that of her husband have been swapped. Beyoncé gets up in the morning and sits down at the breakfast table. From the behavior of her husband you can tell that he must have prepared breakfast and wanted to have breakfast with her. She doesn't do this and then goes to work as a policewoman. Your colleague is a handsome man. Meanwhile, Beyoncé's husband is sitting at home and in the office. He calls his wife on her cell phone, but she does not answer because she is having a beer with male colleagues in a bar. That same night, the husband gives Beyoncé a pair of earrings that she wears while dancing with the handsome policeman. The man is very disappointed and jealous. When he confronts his wife at home, the roles reverse again at the point when Beyoncé says: “Why're you so jealous? It's not like I'm sleeping with the guy! ”Her husband's reaction (and hers at the same time):“ What? ”Now her husband says:“ I said: why are you so jealous? It's not like I'm sleeping with the girl! "; you now learn that the gender roles were swapped throughout the video and that the pretty colleague is actually a pretty colleague. From this "swap back" on, Beyoncé is herself again.
