Bo Lennartsson

Bo "Kulon" Lennartsson (born May 7, 1955 - July 21, 2020 ) was a Swedish ice hockey player , coach and official. With Färjestad BK he was twice Swedish champion as a coach . He was one of the initiators and later the senior sports director of the Champions Hockey League .

Career

Lennartsson was from 1972 to 1982 defender at KB Karlskoga (from 1978 Bofors IK Karlskoga). Karlskoga played in the highest divisions in 1972/73 and 1974/75, otherwise in the then second highest division 1 . 1982 to 1985 Lennartsson was active as a player- coach at Halmstad HK , where he rose with the club in the first season in Division 2. From 1987 to 1989 he was a trainer at Bofors IK. This was followed by one season each at Väsby IK , Kristinehamns HT and 1994/95 at EC Ehrwald in the Austrian Bundesliga .

From 1997 to 1999 Lennartsson worked at Färjestad BK and was Swedish champion and coach of the year in his first year as head coach . In 2001 and 2002 he was the head coach of the Swedish U20 and from 2001 to 2003 he was the assistant coach of Färjestad, where he was again champion in 2002 . In the 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons each started as the head coach of Färjestad, but was replaced in both seasons during the season. From 2008 to 2012 he was finally responsible for the junior program in the management of Färjestad.

He was co-initiator of the European Trophy , a private European Cup competition , of which he was also the tournament director. In this role, he was also responsible for developing the competition into today's Champions Hockey League, of which he became sports director.
