Bob Barton
Robert "Bob" Barton (born July 28, 1947 in Birmingham ) is a British jazz pianist .
Barton studied musical theory and passed the Royal College of Music exams when he was 15 . Since then he has been playing jazz, as a soloist and with bands. From 1973 to 1981 he worked with drummer Trevor Richards and saxophonist John Defferary ; this Richards-led New Orleans trio , without a bassist (his sure left hand allowed it), performed all over Europe. From 1981 to 1987 he directed his own quintet Superjazz , which was touring with musicians such as Louis Nelson , Alton Purnell and Freddie Kohlman . Barton also made guest appearances in America and played with musicians such as Barney Bigard , Trummy Young , Cozy Cole , Benny Waters and Wallace Davenport . He performed with the European Jazz Stars at the San Marino Jazz Festival . He is a member of the Jazzeral Old Time Jazzband and can also be heard on record with Davenport or Linda Lewis .
