Robert Earl Love (born December 8, 1942 in Bastrop , Louisiana ) is a retired American basketball player. The 2.03 m tall and 98 kg heavy player was active in the NBA between 1966 and 1977 .

Career

In the 1965 NBA Draft, Bob Love, who previously played at Southern University and A&M College , was drawn by the Cincinnati Royals in the fourth round in seventh place (33rd pick overall). But he only switched to the NBA a year later . After two seasons with the Cincinnati Royals, he moved to the Milwaukee Bucks , for which he only completed 14 games and was transferred to the Chicago Bulls in the current season .

Bob Love played for the Bulls from 1968 to 1976. After a short time, he became one of the indispensable performers in the franchise founded in 1966 . From 1971 to 1976 Love was the Bulls' top scorer six times in a row. In the early 1970s, Bob Love and his teammates Jerry Sloan and Chet Walker were able to reach the playoffs on a regular basis , but it was not enough for a title or the finals. In the years 1971–1973 Love was allowed to take part in the All-Star Game three times . During his time with the Chicago Bulls, he was also elected to the All-NBA Team (2nd) (1971, 1972) and the NBA All-Defensive Team (2nd) (1972, 1974, 1975). In his last NBA season, the 1976/1977 season, he was first active on the field for the Chicago Bulls , then later for the New York Nets and the Seattle SuperSonics . Throughout his career, Bob Love scored 17.6 points per game, picked up 5.9 rebounds and distributed 1.4 assists.

The Chicago Bulls have no longer given the shirt number 10 in honor of Bob Love since 1994.
