Bob Mielke

Bob Mielke (* 1926 - April 17, 2020 ) was a musician ( trombone , vocals , also trumpet ) of traditional jazz .

Mielke allegedly began his career as early as the late 1930s; he played in 1947 in New York City with Sidney Bechet / Bob Wilber 's Wildcats, with which recordings for Columbia were made. In the 1950s, Mielke performed in the San Francisco Bay Area at the Pier 23 jazz club ; In the following years he also played with George Lewis , Lu Watters , Ted Shafer , the NOJCNC All Stars (including Jim Goodwin , Bob Helm , Ray Skjelbred and Muggsy Spanier ), with whom he appeared on the 1964 TV show Jazz Casual . In the 1970s he made guest appearances as a member of various hot jazz bands at the International Traditional Jazz Festival Breda . In the 1980s and 90s he played a. a. with Butch Thompson and His Berkeley Gang, Pat Yankee and Bob Schulz and His Frisco Jazz Band, with Dick Oxtot's Golden Age Jazz Band and his own band, the Gold Coast Stompers . In the field of jazz he was involved in 57 recording sessions from 1947 to 2011; he was still performing with his Bob Mielke's New Bearcats in the early 2010s .
