Lake Constance S-Bahn
Bodensee-S-Bahn is an international project for the introduction of an S-Bahn- like, clocked local rail passenger transport on the railway lines around Lake Constance . In the Interreg II project “BODAN-RAIL 2020”, a step-by-step implementation was decided by the bodies involved in Germany , Liechtenstein , Austria and Switzerland . The project has been on hold since 2010.
history
On December 11, 2004, the platform “Zu (g) kunft Euregio Bodensee ” was founded in Lindau (Lake Constance) . The following organizations are committed to improving cross-border rail traffic in the Euregio Bodensee as part of the Bodensee-S-Bahn initiative:
- Pro Bahn Austria , State of Vorarlberg
- Pro Bahn , Regional Association Swabia (Pro Bahn LV Bayern)
- Pro Bahn Schweiz (Eastern Switzerland) section
- VCD , Ravensburg District Association (VCD LV Baden-Württemberg)
- VCS Section Thurgau (Swiss Transport Club)
The concept of the Bodensee-S-Bahn is a traffic concept for the Lake Constance area in which the rail traffic around Lake Constance is to be brought up to date and travel times are to be shortened with good networking.
The “Initiative Bodensee-S-Bahn” proposes an S-Bahn in which all people living near Lake Constance would be involved. The railway through the states of Austria, Germany and Switzerland has a planned catchment area of Schaffhausen (CH), Radolfzell (D), Konstanz (D), Friedrichshafen (D), Lindau (D), Bregenz (A) in addition to the circular railway around Lake Constance. , Sargans (CH) and St. Gallen (CH).
Parts of this network are already covered by the existing S-Bahn St. Gallen and S-Bahn Vorarlberg .
The “ S-Bahn FL.A.CH ” project, which is being developed at the ministerial level, directly includes Liechtenstein , but is largely limited to the existing networks of the St. Gallen and Vorarlberg S-Bahns without including the north side of Lake Constance.
In June 2010, the then Transport Minister of the State of Baden-Württemberg Tanja Gönner declared that there would be no financial means for the realization of a Lake Constance S-Bahn in the foreseeable future.
