The Bodewes Trader 7000/8000 series from the Dutch shipbuilding company Bodewes Shipyards is a series of more than 30 units of a multi-purpose ship type .

details

The series was presented in 1999 as the Bodewes Trader 7000 (whose depth, measurement and load-bearing capacity were slightly lower than the Trader 7800 General with the same dimensions) Units summarized under the generic term Bodewes Trader 7000/8000. The currently offered series is divided into three basic types, 7800 General as a basic version, version 7800 Geared with two on the port side mounted, electro-hydraulic NMF or optionally Liebherr - ship cranes with 40 tons of lift capacity (in the coupled operating up to 80 tons) and the version 7900 Lowered Deckhouse , which, compared to the 7800 Geared, has flatter superstructures and flat-design deck cranes. This allows the ships of the 7900 Lowered Deckhouse version to cross under comparatively low bridges.

The ships are designed as multi-purpose dry cargo ships with a deckhouse arranged far aft, a long middle and a shorter forward hold . They are mainly used in the transport of bulk goods, piece goods, small project loads or containers . Thanks to the reinforced tank cover , which can be loaded with up to 15 t / m², it is also possible to load heavy goods. The container capacity is between 270 (7900 Lowered Deckhouse) and 390 TEU (7800 General). The holds of the ships are closed with stacking hatch covers (Piggy-Back), which are operated by a movable hatch car.

The ships are powered by an eight-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine of the MaK 8M32 type with an output of 3840 kW. The engine acts via a gearbox on a propeller and a shaft generator and enables a speed of around 14.7  knots . Two auxiliary diesels are also available. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .

Wagenborg will take over seven ships between November and January 2017 .
