Bodewes Shipyards is a Dutch shipbuilding company for seagoing vessels based in Hoogezand (municipality of Midden-Groningen ) on Winschoterdiep in the province of Groningen .

The company, founded in 1812, focuses on the construction of merchant ships , in particular cargo ships , container ships , tankers and RoRo ships in the size of 800 to 20,000 tons . Many ship hulls are built at foreign shipyards in Gdansk ( Poland ), Drobeta-Turnu Severin ( Romania ), Kerch ( Ukraine ) and Hangzhou in the People's Republic of China and then converted into complete ships in our own shipyard. The shipyard has a transverse slipway .
