The Bodewes Trader 5400 is a ten-unit series of coasters from the Dutch shipyard Royal Bodewes in Hoogezand . The ships were built by Royal Bodewes and the Romanian shipyard Severnav in Drobeta Turnu Severin for various European clients.

description

The ships are from a Caterpillar - diesel engine of the type MaK  6M25 with 1,980  kW power driven via a reduction gear to a pitch propeller effect. The ships can thus reach a speed of 12.5  knots . For power generation are two Sisu - Diesel generators are available. Another Sisu diesel generator was installed for port and emergency operations. The ships are equipped with an electrically powered bow thruster with an output of 300 kW.

The deckhouse is in the rear of the ships. It is set up for a crew of eleven . There are two 37.50 m long and 12.65 m wide holds in front of the deckhouse . The holds are box-shaped, with the front hold tapering towards the bow. Loading space 1 is 4,095 m³, loading space 2 is 4,269 m³. A total of 926 m² is available on the tank ceiling. The rooms are closed with pontoon hatch covers that can be moved using a hatch trolley. The ships are equipped with two bulkheads .

The ships are equipped for the transport of containers . The container capacity is 279  TEU , of which 168 TEU in space and 111 TEU on deck. Six 20-foot containers can be stowed one behind the other and up to five next to each other in the holds. There is space for three layers on top of each other. There is space on deck for six 20-foot containers one behind the other and up to five next to each other. The containers can be stowed in two layers on top of each other on the rear hatch. The rearmost stack is limited to one layer, as the hatch car is parked here. The foremost stack on hatch 2 and the deck containers on hatch 1 are also limited to one layer, taking into account the line of sight . With homogeneous loading with 14 t 20-foot containers, 241 TEU can be loaded. If only 40-foot containers are loaded, there is space for a total of 111 containers, 60 of them in the room and 51 on deck.

The tank top can be loaded with 15 t / m², the hatch cover with 1.75 t / m². When loading containers, the maximum weight on the top of the tank of a stack of 20-foot containers is 68 t and a stack of 40-foot containers is 72 t. The maximum weight of a stack of 20-foot containers and that of a stack of 40-foot containers may be 48 t on the hatch covers.

The hull of the ships is reinforced with ice ( ice class E2).
