The Bodewes-Trader-3400 is an eleven-ship series of a coaster type . The ships are managed by the Hamburg shipping company Interscan Schiffahrt and the Barendrecht -based shipping company Flinter . The multi-purpose ships built between 2003 and 2009 and carrying 3400 dwt were built by the Bodewes shipyards in Gdansk and Hoogezand. The seven ships built in Hoogezand for Flinter between 2003 and 2006 are also known as Bodewes-Trader-3450 , while the last three Kümos made in Gdansk for Interscan were launched as Bodewes-Trader-3400 .

The 82.50 m long Kümos have a load capacity of around 3400 dwt with a maximum draft of 5.30 m. The 1,850 kW MaK marine diesel accelerates the ships to a maximum of 12.5 knots. The consumption per day at sea is approx. 8 t HFO .
The ships of the Interscan Schiffahrt shipping company have been chartered out to the Danish chartering company Danship on a long-term basis . They all fly the Cypriot flag and are classified by Lloyd's Register .
Flinter's ships are internally loaded and sail under the Dutch flag. However, they are classified by Bureau Veritas .
The 8.50 m high and 5015 m³ loading space is specially reinforced for heavy goods . The tank top can be loaded with up to 13 t / m². The Saimax ships are due to their dimensions still just able to Saimaa Canal to pass, while they can be only up to a maximum of 4.35 m unloaded for the channel passage, thus increasing the load capacity at 2,450 mts reduced.
A maximum of 34 containers can be transported as deck load. The ships are classified with the ice class Swedish / Finnish 1A .
The ships are equipped to transport timber. A maximum of 4,100 m³ of wood can be transported.
