Bodo Baumgarten

Bodo Baumgarten (born November 25, 1940 in Gotenhafen , West Prussia ), grew up in Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg , is a German painter and graphic artist , former professor at the HBK Saar in Saarbrücken .

biography

Baumgarten studied painting in Kiel and Hamburg from 1962 to 1969, and then taught at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts as part of teaching assignments. In 1975 he received the advancement award from the Berlin Academy of the Arts , in 1976 he received a scholarship from the Hamburg Lichtwark Prize in 1977 . In 1979 he quit teaching at his own request in order to be able to develop artistically. In 1981 he moved to Cologne , where he has had his main studio ever since. In 1986 he received a working grant from the Art Fund Foundation , Bonn. From 1986 to 1987 he held a teaching position at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . From 1989 he was professor for free painting at the newly founded HBK Saar. His successor there has been Gabriele Langendorf since autumn 2006 .
