Boeing Business Jets , shortly BBJ is a business unit of the Boeing Company , which business aircraft manufactures. The first model was developed on the basis of the Boeing 737NG by the US aircraft manufacturer Boeing together with General Electric and initially offered as a Boeing Business Jet (also BBJ for short ). Special versions of the 747 , 767 , 777 and 787 series were added later.

development

The original BBJ is a hybrid of the fuselage of the Boeing 737-700 combined with the structurally reinforced wings, the wing center section and the reinforced landing gear of the 737-800. The maximum range is 11,547 km. The first two deliveries took place in November 1998. Due to the great demand, Boeing is also offering a larger version of the BBJ, the BBJ 2 . It is based on the complete airframe of the 737-800 and has a shorter range of 10,408 km. The third model, the BBJ 3, is based on the 737-900ER (Extended Range) and, at 104 m², offers 9% more cabin floor space than the BBJ-2 model and 37% more than the BBJ. The BBJ 3 has a range of 10,177 km with eight additional tanks. On October 17, 2006, the program was officially launched with two unnamed customers.

By installing up to nine additional tanks, so-called auxiliary fuel tanks , the Boeing 737 becomes a long-haul aircraft with a range of up to 11,547 km under optimal conditions. The serial installation of upwardly curved winglets is another feature of the BBJ. The biggest difference to the passenger aircraft, however, lies in the cabin equipment, which, for example , can be installed by Jet Aviation , SR Technics and Lufthansa Technik as required. The following model variants are currently available:
