Bogusław Psujek

Bogusław Psujek (born November 22, 1956 in Chorupnik , Gmina Gorzków , Lublin Voivodeship, † April 21, 1990 in Szklarska Poręba ) was a Polish long-distance runner .

Life

Psujek started for the WKS Oleśniczanka Oleśnica association. Four times he was Polish champion over 5000 m , once over 10,000 m , three times in cross-country and twice in the hall over 3000 m .

At the international level, however, he was most successful in the marathon . In 1986 he won the Berlin Marathon in 2:11:03 h, in 1987 he set a Polish record as seventh in the London Marathon with 2:10:26 and was seventh in the New York City Marathon , and in 1988 he was Fourth in Berlin.

Psujek fell while trying to get over the outer wall to his hotel room in the mountain village of Szklarska Poreba after a late night return. He was found dead in front of the hotel that morning. Psujek left a wife and two sons.
