Bojoura (actually Raina Cleuver van Melzen ; born April 15, 1947 in The Hague ) is a Dutch pop and folk singer who had her greatest successes in the late 1960s and 1970s.

Career

Bojoura (Bulgarian for "the peony " - Bulgar. Божур) is the daughter of the Bulgarian-born opera singer and music teacher Dany Zonewa. She was discovered in 1967 by George Kooymans of the rock group Golden Earring . In the same year she reached number 18 on the Dutch charts with the ballad " Everybody's Day " written by Kooymans . In 1967 and 1968 she was the presenter of the program View on the television channel AVRO-TV , where she interviewed celebrities such as Truman Capote and The Supremes . In 1968 she represented the Netherlands at the Orphée d'Or Festival in Burgas, Bulgaria . In 1969 she covered the song " If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium ", written by Donovan , from the US comedy So Reise und so we liebe , which was the inspiration for the 1973 song " Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko " from the Bollywood film Yaadon Ki Baraat served. With her version of the song " Frank Mills " from the musical Hair , she came in February 1969 to number 8 in the Dutch charts. She had her last Top 20 success in 1974 with the box-top song " The Letter ". Her single "What Is Love" reached number 1 in the charts in Israel.

Bojoura is married to Hans Cleuver, the drummer of the Dutch progressive rock group Focus .
